Department of Geography

About the Department

The Department of Geography was established since 2004 and the first geographer was Dr. Kishor Chauhan. Geography is only one subject which comes under school of Earth Science in the college. Dr. Minakshi Verma was a faculty member in this department from 2010 to 2022; she is currently employed by another college. Dr. Kanhaiya Lal Gupta is the only member of the faculty at this time, along with two non-teaching staff members: Shrimati Kusum, a lab assistant, and Shri Anil Singh, a lab attendant.

The Geography Department of this college is privileged for receiving support from the department of central government (Survey of India, ONGC, FRI, GSI, Wadia institute of Himalayan geology, IIRS, Forest Survey of India etc.) Dehradun, Uttarakhand-based departments, which has an impact on the quality of the department’s work.

Most of the studies centered within the regional frame of central Himalayas and more particularly Garhwal Himalaya covering wide range of topics i.e., Physical Geography, Applied Geomorphology, Skill Development, Basic Cartographic Techniques and Map Readings, Human Geography, Surveying Technique, Regional Planning and Development, Statistical and Map Projection Techniques, Geography of India, Economic Geography, Evolution of Geographical Thoughts, Agricultural Geography, Remote Sensing & GIS Techniques and Social and Cultural Diversity in Uttarakhand, i.e., main theme dealing with the fundamental aspect of the particular subfields of the disciple and the applied part habitually injected degree to the numerous characteristics of Himalayan Geography.
