College Background
The college was established under the Uttaranchal Govt. Order No. 474 उ0शि0 2003-03 (42) 2002 दिनांक 19 सितम्बर, 2003 by the name ‘‘Govt. Degree College Paukhal’’, with the creation of first four post of the Principal, English lecturer, Junior Clerk and Peon. The college is in Bhilangana-Ghansali Development Block of Tehri Garhwal district, of Uttarakhand state. The college campus set on enticing mountain slopes covered with dense pine forests in the middle range of Himalaya. It is about 150 Km. away from Rishikesh on New Tehri-Srinagar-Gangotri route.
It is a co-educational institution and is affiliated with HNB Garhwal (Central) University, Srinagar-Garhwal. The college has permanent affiliation with the University in seven subjects of art faculty viz. Hindi, English, Sanskrit, Geography, Political Science, Economics and Sociology. It has own grandeur building with three blocks- Administrative Block, Academic Block and Residential Block constructed on about 1 hectare of flat land near the serpentine reservoir of river Bhilangana of Tehri Hydro Power Project’s dam, which is the second largest hydro power dam of Asia in size and capacity. The College is constructed in the collaboration of THDC Ltd; and State Government of Uttarakhand under the social welfare and rehabilitation scheme of the THDC. The college was started with the thirteen students’ admissions in 2004-2005.
Dr. K. S. Jauhari was is the first and founder Principal of the college, who joined in the college as a first regular principal and began the college formally in 2005-06. Since then, number of students is increasing with slow pace but continuously which shows that the institution is growing with a stable growth and developing in tremendous way and no doubt has a bright future.
